Laser Printer Ink Cartridge
Laser printing is the most popular printing option for businesses around the world and recent improvements in Laser printing technology have driven the quality of laser printing higher whilst also driving the cost of owning and running a laser printer way down. It was 1976 with the IBM model 3800 laser printer and then later with the Xerox star 8010 in 1981 (the first laser printer designed for use with a PC) that the world started to come away from a simple ink impact printing idea and move towards using lasers to print quickly and cost effectively. Laser printers mimic the technology in a photocopier by using xerographic printing processes but improve on the idea by using a laser beam.
A laser printer works by projecting an image onto a drum using a laser. The laser beam discharges areas of the drum which represent the white spaces of the printed document. The drum is then brought into contact with the toner particles (like powder) which attracts to the charged area of the drum. The drum which rotates very quickly then passes over the paper and using heat the toner particles bond to the paper in the right positions to complete the image requested.
The largest advantages to laser printing are being able to print very quickly at lower costs. Every major manufacturer of printer has taken the laser technology and produced wide varieties of different laser printers. Some print in colour and others only black and white. Some print very quickly whilst others a little slower. Some operate as multifunction machines (printer, scanner, fax and copier altogether). Although they all differ in how they operate the one thing they have in common is they all take toner cartridges.
